Obama's veep search team -- Speaks of his judgment of others
On the heels of the Rezko conviction, Barack Obama announced his search team for his running mate. It includes Caroline Kennedy and a couple of other names that most will be unfamiliar with, but we recognized off the bat:
Senator Barack Obama has announced a three-person search team to vet candidates to be his vice-presidential running mate.
Caroline Kennedy will join Jim Johnson, a veteran of such selection processes, and Eric Holder, former deputy Attorney General in the Clinton administration.
Bill Burton, a spokesman for the Obama campaign, said in a statement that these three “talented and dedicated” people would be “managing this rigorous process.”
But, and there was a but, Mr. Burton added: “He will work closely with them in the coming weeks but ultimately this will be his decision and his alone.”
Eric Holder participated in the Marc Rich pardon when he was deputy attorney general under Janet Reno. Jim Johnson was CEO of Fannie Mae and received some suspicious loans through Countrywide -- a housing company at the center of the housing bubble that burst.
Neither one of these guys are "clean" by political standards, and it speaks volumes as to the company Barack Obama keeps in his campaign. Toss these two guys in with William Ayers, Bernadine Dohrn, Jeremiah Wright, Michael Pfleger, and James Meeks, and you get a picture that isn't pretty.
