Winnie-the-Pooh strategy? Only an Obama aide could come up with this

Don't laugh at that. Cringe. Be afraid; be very afraid. Richard Danzig had a sit down with a Telegraph reporter, and explained that foreign policy in an Obama White House should be shaped by Winne-the-Pooh:

Richard Danzig, who served as Navy Secretary under President Clinton and is tipped to become National Security Adviser in an Obama White House, told a major foreign policy conference in Washington that the future of US strategy in the war on terrorism should follow a lesson from the pages of Winnie the Pooh, which can be shortened to: if it is causing you too much pain, try something else.

Mr Danzig told the Centre for New American Security: “Winnie the Pooh seems to me to be a fundamental text on national security.”

He spelt out how American troops, spies and anti-terrorist officials could learn key lessons by understanding the desire of terrorists to emulate superheroes like Luke Skywalker, and the lust for violence of violent football fans.

I guess Danzig hasn't ever read books like The Looming Tower, Nuclear Jihadist, or Countdown To Crisis to understand the enemy we face today, and their dangerous ambitions.

In this day and age, we can't look to children's books and superheroes (BTW, Skywalker wasn't a "superhero;" he was a retelling of several mythical people) to make up our foreign policy. This world is hardly kind and gentle. It's filled with a great deal of animosity, and that's not just towards us, but Western nations in general. Read the piece from the Telegraph and see how Danzig tries to explain this position. It makes no sense, and sounds a lot like a guy pushing a joke as something serious.

Winnie-the-Pooh? Who's going to be Sec/Def in an Obama administration, Tigger? Or maybe someone who constantly worries about everything like Piglet. Oh, scratch that last one. That might offend some of the thugs that Obama wants to sit down and talk to in the Middle East.
