Defining Sarah
Since Friday the McCain camp has done little in the way of defining his running mate. Because of that, the media got a head start on smearing her good name. Somebody finally woke up at Team McCain and realized they had to "reintroduce" Sarah Palin to voters. How are they doing it? They're rolling out an ad showing just how much experience Sarah Palin really has:
Mounting a ferocious defense of his embattled running mate, John McCain said he is buying a TV ad arguing that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has more experience than the Democratic presidential nominee, Barack Obama.
In an effort to rev up conservatives, a campaign statement issued a list of critical media mentions that it called “smears” of Palin, who speaks in primetime at the convention on Wednesday night.
The campaign announced: “The McCain campaign will launch a television ad directly comparing Gov. Palin’s executive experience as a governor who oversees 24,000 state employees, 14 statewide cabinet agencies and a $ 10 billion budget to Barack Obama’s experience as a one-term junior senator from Illinois.”
The ad is what the campaign calls “a forward-leaning effort to counter the shameless smears that have prevailed during Gov. Palin’s introduction to the American voter.”
Now let's be fair here. The McCain camp has no one to blame for the attacks except themselves. They rolled her out on Friday, and then didn't say another word, really. The media has had fun ripping her over a host of innuendo and rumors. Team McCain should have been hammering Sarah Palin home to voters. Now they've decided to do that.
We'll congratulate them for finally realizing their mistake, and the ads begin today; perfect considering she will speak tonight. The convention is electric with support and adoration of Sarah Palin. If this is carried out right, and she raises the roof tonight, there will be little the media or the Obama camp can do to stop them.
